Race Description

- Date: Date of the race
- Track: Track code for the track where the race will be held.
- Distance: Distance of the race in furlongs/miles.
- Surface: The surface on which the race will be held on.
- Race Type: Race class code followed by a breakdown of what the class code means.
- Purse: Total prize money offered for the race.
- Claiming Price: Claiming price for the race, if applicable. A claiming price is the set amount to buy a horse in a claiming race. This will be left blank if race is not a claiming race.
- Restrictions: Horse age and sex restrictions for the race.
- Wager Types: Types of wagers for this race.
- Post Time: Scheduled start time for the race. Formatted Eastern/Central/Mountain/Pacific timezone. Parentheses indicate the timezone where the race is taking place.
Horse-to-Horse Comparison Table Terms
Sire Comparison:
- Pgm: The horse’s program number for the race.
- Horse: The horse’s name.
- Sire: Name of the horse’s sire.
- Sire of Sire: Name of the sire of the horse’s sire (Paternal Grandfather).
- SPI: Sire Production Index, a measure of the sire’s average progeny earnings compared to the overall population. Higher values indicate greater sire productivity.
- Foals: Total number of foals produced by the sire.
- Win %: Percentage of the sire’s starters that have won at least one race.
- Avg Win Dist: Average distance at which the sire’s progeny win races.
- Win % Age 2: Percentage of the sire’s two-year-old starters that win races.
- Win % 1st: Percentage of the sire’s progeny that win in their first career start.
Dam Comparison:
- Pgm: The horse’s program number for the race.
- Horse: The horse’s name.
- Dam: Name of the horse’s dam.
- Sire of Dam: Name of the sire of the horse’s dam (Maternal Grandfather).
- DPI: Dam Production Index, a measure of the dam’s progeny earnings relative to the overall population. Higher values indicate greater production success.
- Dam Std Index: Standard Production Index for the dam, comparing the earnings of her progeny to the average for all broodmares.
- Dam’s Sire SPI: Sire Production Index, a measure of the Dam’s sire’s average progeny earnings compared to the overall population. Higher values indicate greater sire productivity.
- Dam’s Sire AWD: Average Winning Distance for progeny of Dam’s sire.
- Starters: Total number of the dam’s foals that have started in a race.
- Winners: Total number of the dam’s foals that have won at least one race.
- Stakes Win: Number of the dam’s foals that have won a stakes race.
- Win % Age 2:Percentage of the dam’s two-year-old starters that win races.
- Race Perf: Indicates the dam’s highest level of racing achievement during her career.
Breeding Overview Comparison:
- Pgm: The horse’s program number for the race.
- Horse: The horse’s name.
- Sex: Defines the horse’s sex/age classification.
- Foaling Month and Birth Year: Birth month/year of the horse.
- Breeder: The person or farm that owned the mare (dam) at the time she gave birth to the horse.
- Dosage Index: A pedigree-based metric indicating a horse’s balance of speed versus stamina influences. Lower values generally suggest greater stamina potential, while higher values indicate more speed-oriented breeding.
- Sire Stud Fee: The advertised breeding fee charged by the sire’s farm for one mating during the current or most recent breeding season.
Turf Stats Comparison:
- Pgm: The horse’s program number for the race.
- Horse: The horse’s name.
- Sire Turf Starts: Total number of starts by the sire’s progeny on turf surfaces.
- Sire Turf Win %: Percentage of the sire’s progeny that have won races on turf surfaces.
- Sire 1st Turf Win %: Percentage of the sire’s progeny that win their first start on turf.
- Dam Turf Winners: Number of the dam’s progeny that have won races on turf surfaces.
- Dam’s Sire Turf Starts: Total number of starts by the dam’s sire’s progeny on turf surfaces.
- Dam’s Sire Turf 1st Win %: Percentage of the dam’s sire’s progeny that win their first start on turf.
Mud Stats Comparison:
- Pgm: The horse’s program number for the race.
- Horse: The horse’s name.
- Sire Mud Starts: Total number of starts by the sire’s progeny on wet dirt tracks (muddy or sloppy).
- Sire Mud Win %: Percentage of the sire’s progeny that win on wet dirt tracks.
- Dam’s Sire Mud Starts: Total number of starts on wet dirt tracks (muddy or sloppy).
- Dam’s Sire Mude 1st Win %: Percentage of starters that won their first start on a wet dirt track.
By Horse Analysis Pedigree Terms:
Horse Info Section:
- Pgm: The horse’s program number for the race.
- PostPos: The horse’s post position for the race. This refers to the number of the starting gate stall.
- ML: The horse’s morning line odds for the race. The morning line odds are the initial odds set by the track’s oddsmaker before betting begins on the race.
- Horse: The horse’s name.
- Sex: Defines the horse’s sex/age classification.
- Colt: A male horse under 5 years old that has not been gelded (castrated). Colts are typically still in training or early racing careers.
- Horse: A mature male horse (usually 5 years or older) that is not gelded. Often used interchangeably with stallion, but may appear as “Horse” in racing records.
- Gelding: A male horse that has been castrated, usually to improve behavior and manageability.
- Filly: A female horse under 5 years old. Fillies may compete against other fillies or mixed company in races.
- Mare: A female horse aged 5 years or older. Mares are eligible for breeding and often retire from racing to become broodmares.
- Ridgling: A male horse with one or both testicles undescended. May behave like a stallion but is often sterile or has limited fertility.
- Stallion: An uncastrated adult male horse, used for breeding purposes. Stallions may race, but many retire early to stud.
- Entire: Another term for a fully intact male horse (not gelded), often used in European racing or breeding records; similar to “stallion” in meaning.
- Color: Describes the coat color of the horse.
- Foaling Month and Birth Year: Birth month/year of the horse.
- Breed Type: Horse’s breed registry classification.

- Weight: The total number of pounds the horse carried during the race, including the jockey and gear.

- Where Sold: Indicates the auction location where the horse was sold, if applicable

- State/Country Bred: Shows where the horse was foaled. This can determine eligibility for state-bred or regionally restricted races and incentive programs.
Sire Info Section:

- Num Sold by Sire (All Age): Total number of the sire’s progeny sold at auction across all ages.
- Num Sold by Sire (Sale Age): Number of the sire’s progeny sold at auction at the same age as this horse.
Sire’s Sire Info Section:
- YOB: Year of birth.
- SPI: Sire Production Index, a measure of the sire’s average progeny earnings compared to the overall population. Higher values indicate greater sire productivity.
- Num Crops: Number of crops produced. A crop refers to a group of foals born in the same year by that stallion.
Dam Info Section:
- YOB: Year of birth.
- DPI: Dam Production Index, a measure of the dam’s progeny earnings relative to the overall population. Higher values indicate greater production success.
- Std Index: Standard Production Index for the dam, comparing the earnings of her progeny to the average for all broodmares.
- Race Performance: Indicates the dam’s highest level of racing achievement during her career.
- Num Starters: Total number of the dam’s foals that have started in a race.
- Num Winners: Total number of the dam’s foals that have won at least one race.
- Stakes Win: Number of the dam’s foals that have won a stakes race.
- Win % Age 2: Percentage of the dam’s two-year-old starters that win races.
- Turf Winners: Number of the dam’s progeny that have won races on turf surfaces.
